Provide Access To Opportunity
R&T devise, develop and deliver basketball programmes for young people that engage, nurture and sustain their interests and abilities towards positive outcomes. We target our programmes in areas where opportunities and access to quality provision is lacking, giving young people the chance to get involved in quality controlled, locally accessible basketball and educational initiatives that inspire them to aspire for more both on and off the court.
Deliver Quality Assured Programming
Over the past decade, we’ve established a reputation as a leading authority in grassroots basketball programming and delivery, whether it’s been through the implementation and initial results from our heralded London School of Basketball or the internationally recognised success of our Midnight Madness competitions and events – one thing everyone we’ve worked with can attest: R&T strive to deliver above and beyond expectation and set new benchmarks around what quality basketball provision should be about.
Develop Life Skills Through Sports
Our basketball coaches are passionate about teaching the game and strive to continue improving as coaches, however they also understand they are ambassadors and mentors, equally as passionate about making a lasting impression on all the young people they meet. All our sessions are designed to develop character and build self-esteem, respect, co-operation, tolerance, goal-setting, work-ethic and aspiration in young people. Through the relationships we establish, we work on helping them draw the parallels between basketball and life, so they are better able to transfer the positive traits developed on the basketball court into other areas of their lives.
Support Community Regeneration
R&T are about successful sustainable outcomes. We don’t believe in ‘drop in’ programs that are ‘parachuted’ in, with no realistic long-term sustainability built in. Our experience has shown us, these types of programs ultimately end up doing more harm than good, leaving young people demotivated, excluded and often times more frustrated than they were in the beginning. Through our School Of Basketball program, we strive to ensure all our programming is geared towards long-term fully sustainable outcomes through the development of a vibrant community club network, which positively addresses a wide range of regenerative issues within the communities we reach.
Improve Community Cohesion & Help Develop Safer Neighbourhoods
The underlying motivation behind all our work is to affect positive change in disadvantaged young people and the communities in which they live. Many of the young people we work with have to face an unprecedented set of life defining challenges everyday simply because of where they live. Crime, disengagement and lack of perceived opportunities present array of unavoidable issues which need to be tackled head on if we are to truly to have an impact towards positive change. Our experience has shown us that smarter intervention programming and the provision of accessible, positive pathways and mentors that engage ‘at risk’ young people and support and equip them with the confidence and ability to make smarter choices, makes all the difference to the outcome of both the individual and their community.
