R&T Hoops Academy is a groundbreaking 'school of basketball' that takes teaching and learning the game to a new and exciting level!
For the first time ever in the UK, we've developed a standardised player progression pathway that facilitates the appropriate development course for each and every basketball player, from absolute beginner all the way through to the highly advanced and elite.
Unlike any other player development model currently being used today, the R&T Hoops Academy provides a certified skills appraisal and grading system for players across the complete development pathway, which in turn provides them with a better understanding of where their skills need to be strengthened to continue to improve. This, in turn, provides invaluable information to coaches, teachers, parents and/or guardians in relation to ensuring the player in question is directed towards the right coaching sessions for his/her ability.
The aim of the R&T Hoops Academy is to develop better basketball players at all levels, through better preparation, understanding and appraisal of the skills of the individual. As a result, all Academy sessions are designed specifically for the different ability levels, with absolute beginners coming in at our entry level sessions, then graduating up to the higher ranked and more complex sessions upon completion of pre-set coaching curriculum and skills appraisals.
In the current English basketball climate, there are no standardised measuring protocols for players to be graded and evaluated on. Can he/she shoot a fundamentally sound right or left hand layup? Jump shot? Can he/she set or receive a quality screen? Has he/she mastered each of the basic passes? Know how to box out? Understand spacing? Individual and team defense? There is just no way of knowing at a glance how far along a player is in his/her development, which, in turn, makes it extremely difficult to accurately plan a course of player development that is tailored to the needs of the individual. Consequently, far too many players are falling short of their potential and are ultimately underserviced and underdeveloped.
R&T Hoops Academy has been developed to address this problem and offers a standardised solution to player evaluation and skills development, which players find enjoyable, practical and are eager to follow as the program provides them with a clearly visible pathway through from where they are today, towards where they aspire to be tomorrow.
