Develop Your Game: Dribbling Cone Drill

NBA point guard Ty Lawson demonstrates an age-old favourite for any player determined to get better ‘handles’.  Cones are great if you have them, but if not, you can substitute cones with any object you can find.

The key to the drill is making sure you stay low, under control, stay on your toes and keep the ball on a ‘quick fire’ low dribble.

Once you get comfortable with the drill, you can add variation crossovers: through the legs, behind the back, double crossovers – the variations are only limited by your handle and imagination.

Practise this drill at game speed and always have your mind focusing on quickness, quickness quickness!
